Extreme Terahertz-wave Parametric oscillator and its application

This paper presents examination of a backward Terahertz-wave (THz-wave) parametric oscillator (BW - TPO) with wide tunability in the sub-THz wave region (~1 THz). The simple and compact device has been demonstrated under a special optical parametric down-conversion found in a periodically poled lithium niobate. The potential property of the BW - TPO is expected to pave the way for THz-wave applications, especially a swept-source THz OCT with a higher depth-resolution because of a dynamically wide frequency-tuning range.
