Performance analysis of proposed MPPT method with the conventional methods

Nowadays photovoltaic industries are rapidly developing in comparison to other renewable industries because of its increased efficiency, easy availability and installation. Solar energy is converted to electrical energy by the process of photoconduction. This electrical energy is used by connecting a converter (load) to the PV module. Therefore load matching is an important concept which plays a vital role in maximum power transfer. Thus maximum power point tracking is required for improving the overall performance of the system. The conventional methods are like constant voltage, constant current MPPT method which has a lot of disadvantages. In this paper, a new proposed method is designed with variable step size and compared with perturb and observance method and incremental conductance method. These three methods are compared in terms of steady state oscillations, tracking time and maximum power. The proposed method named as Fish finding method provides a better result in comparison to the other three methods. The tracking time is very less and the steady state oscillation is almost nil for the fish finding mppt method.
