Fault Line Selection Method Based on Variational Mode Decomposition Energy Weight

Aiming at the fault line identification issues of ineffectively grounded systems, a fault feeder identification programme lay on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) energy weight is proposed. The VMD algorithm has better adaptability than the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD), it can effectively suppress modal aliasing. Firstly, in order to determine the fault feeder, the zero-module current is used after every line fault is extracted for VMD decomposition. Then the frequency band energy corresponding to the intrinsic mode function (IMF) component are achieved. Finally, the energy weight of each line is compared as the final criterion. Case studies on a benchmark system verify the correctness and stability of the proposed fault line identification scheme.
