A Class E/F3 based 10W LED Driver with ZVS Capability

This paper presents a single stage class E/F3 based LED driver with zero voltage switching capability. The class E/F3 resonant converter which is operated in discontinuous conduction mode helps to achieve high power factor and low input current distortion. Additionally, the isolated type class E/F3 converter provides an isolation for the LED module from the high voltage side. Further, the converter offers low peak switch voltage and higher stability at a low component count. The analytical design is verified by LTspice simulation. Also, the experimental prototype is built and tested for the line input voltage. As observed, the proposed converter demonstrates a decent efficiency of 80% and a high-power factor (PF) of 0.98 validating the analytical design.
