A Novel Scenario Reduction Method for Static Voltage Stability

The scenario-based method has been widely used to model the uncertainty in power systems. To decrease the complexity and computational burden for the evaluation and solution of the stochastic static voltage stability problem due to the integration of renewable energy sources, we propose a novel scenario reduction method in this paper. Compared with the other scenario reduction method, the load margins of the scenarios to Saddle Node Bifurcation (SNB) are used to group all the scenarios, as well as the distances of the wind power output, which can avoid the elimination of the extreme scenarios for the voltage stability problem. The central scenarios obtained by the proposed scenario reduction method are more representative for the voltage stability problem. Two tests on the IEEE 118-bus power system are carried out to demonstrate the performance of the proposed scenarios reduction method.
