Model of The Energy Internet Architecture Based on The Hetero-Functional Graph Theory

The energy internet is the intellectual fusion of multiple systems. The analysis, design, planning, and operation of energy internet from a holistic perspective necessitates sophisticated modeling techniques. The existed methods are unable to portray the inherent heterogeneity of different resources and can not support the quantitative analysis. To handle these issues, the hetero-functional graph theory is deployed to model the energy internet, which synchronously captures the advantages of network science and the model-based system engineering technique. By implementing the system concept and the hetero-functional adjacency matrix in the hetero-functional graph theory, the energy internet can be mathematically modeled and intuitively presented. Each node of the energy internet denotes a functional capability and each edge represents the logical linkage between capabilities. In this way, the established model satisfies soundness, completeness, lucidity, and laconicity, meaning that the inherent heterogeneity and quantitative analysis are achievable. Based on a simplified energy internet case, the analytical modeling process is interpreted in detail.
