Effect of Fluorinated Nano-Composite Coating on the Flashover Characteristics of Epoxy Insulators

In this paper, plasma fluorination method is used to treat nano-TiO2 and SiC. After the coating is applied by dip coating, charge dissipation and flashover tests are carried out to study the effect of the coating on the charge dissipation of epoxy resin insulating material. The results show that the fluorine-containing functional groups grafted onto the nanofiller can change the charge distribution in the interface region, and at the same time increase the shallow traps of the composite material, reduce the deep traps, accelerate the dissipation of charge, reduce the accumulation of charge, and thus improve the flashover voltage of the composite material. At the same time, the increase in filler content and coating thickness can also increase the flashover voltage of the material. When the coating thickness is 600 μm and the fluorinated nano-SiC content is 5%, the flashover voltage is increased by 18.7% compared to the uncoated sample.
