Investigation of Field Regulation Mechanism of Flux-Reversal Variable Flux Memory Machine by an Improved Frolich Hysteresis Model

In this paper, the field regulation mechanism of a flux-reversal variable flux memory machine (FR-VFMM) is investigated by an experiment-aided improved Frolich hysteresis model in depth. First, the machine configuration and the operating principle of the investigated FR- VFMM are introduced, respectively. It is found that the accuracy of alternate permanent magnet (PM) magnetization state (MS) manipulation tests based on the existing Frolich hysteresis model is relatively limited. Thus, an experiment-based methodology is developed to investigate and characterize the movement pattern of the PM working point during the continuous and alternate magnetization manipulation processes, which contributes to the generalization of the field regulation mechanism of the FR-VFMM. Subsequently, an improved Frolich model is developed based on the experimental results. Then, a coupled solution with finite element (FE) method and the proposed hysteresis model is utilized to analyze the magnetization characteristics of FR-VFMM. Finally, the accuracy of the proposed hysteresis model is experimentally verified in re-established alternate MS control measurements.
