An Efficient Hybrid Method for the Optimization of Antenna Radiation Problems

In this paper, the scheme of model-order reduction (MOR) combined with tangential equivalence principle algorithm (T-EPA) is proposed to analyze the radiation problem of antennas in the vicinity of a large PEC plate. A limit number of orthogonal basis vectors can be obtained by performing randomized singular-value decomposition (RSVD) on the interaction matrix between the region of radiator and scatterer with a given truncation error. In this way, the wave input-output relation of the scatterer can be encapsulated into a reduced-order model (ROM) which can be pre-computed and reused when the position of the radiator is changed. Furthermore, discrete empirical interpolation method (DEIM) is applied to select interpolations on the scatterer to accelerate the filling of interaction matrices. Finally, the combination with T-EPA can reduce the density of unknowns on the radiator and improve the convergence of integral equations in such multi-scale radiation problems. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
