Coding Metasurface for Radar Cross Section Reduction

In recent years, the concept of metasurface has been proposed and developed, researchers has also put forward its some applications, such as introducing an abrupt phase shift, polarization conversion and holography et al. Additionally, metasurface is used to realize the RCS reduction. In this article, we have proposed three coding metasurface patterns and have simulated their RCS reduction performance. The results indicated that all the three patterns can redirect the incident EM energy to all directions and form diffuse scattering, the RCS has been reduced. Comparing their RCS reduction curve, we found that the more the super element the better the RCS reduction at all frequency band. These studies will provide evidence for designing the better coding metasurface.
