A Single Channel LCMV Beamformer Based on Time-Modulated Array

A single-channel LCMV beamformer based on time-modulated array (TMA) is proposed and investigated. With time modulation technique, single channel receiving signal can be obtained and sampled. The essential concept of the proposed method is recovering the correlation matrix utilizing the sideband signals extracted in digital domain and adopting the LCMV criterion to get the weight vector. Compared to traditional uniform linear array (ULA), the proposed method offers several advantages such as low hardware complexity and low channel mismatch while it has the similar performance. Simulation results are provided to verify its effectiveness.
