Skin Impedance Measurement in Wearable Non-invasive Optical Blood Glucose Monitors

This paper proposes a method of measuring skin impedance for implementation in a non-invasive optical blood glucose monitor. Monitoring the statistically random nature of a user's moving wrist is an important sensing issue in wearable healthcare monitors. Analyzing the characteristics of skin impedance and the correlation between optical sensing array and the wrist, a skin impedance based movement tracking model in wearable sensing array is implemented. Each sensor in is modeled as a cell in cellular automata. The proposed methodology relies on tracking as with a cell update its states by sensing the states of neighboring cells. The tracked movement can be intermittently disrupted when movement is not simultaneously detected by adjacent sensor nodes. The main contribution of this work is a real-time movement prediction method to track the user's movement without sufficient tracking information.
