Study Regarding Implementation of a Monitoring and Control System for a Small Hydropower Plant

The paper presents a mini SCADA system designed for monitoring and control of a micro hydropower plant. The application is structured in three windows, the main one with the control panel, one for viewing alarms, another for viewing the time dependence of the monitored parameters (active energy, frequency, currents and line voltages). Implementation of a SCADA system brings some key advantages in the operation of the plant, among which we mention: efficient operation, automated controls, customized alarms, quick response to issues, detailed reporting, proactive maintenance. The HMI interface has been developed using Microsoft Visual Studio, an integrated development environment (IDE) from Microsoft. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) used is based on Windows Forms (WinForms), a free and open-source graphical class library.
