Sensorless Control of PMSM Based on FOC Strategy and Fractional Order PI Controller

In this article is presented a sensorless control system for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) based on the Field Oriented Control (FOC) strategy using the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) observer for rotor position and speed estimation. ) and Tilt Integral Derivative (TID) controllers. The transfer functions of these two controllers were synthesized through the Fractional Order Modeling and Control (FOMCON) toolbox for MATLAB, for the implementation in the PMSM realtime control system. The numerical simulations presents the superiority of the speed Fractional Order-PI (FO-PI) controller and speed TID controller against the speed PI controller; this superiority can be explained by the fact that they have a supplementary number of tuning parameters than the speed PI controller, and their mathematical model is more accurate due to the use of the fractional calculus.
