Joint Mode Selection and Resource Allocation in D2D-enabled Vehicular Network

The widely deployed cellular network, assisted with device-to-device (D2D) communication, can provide a promising solution to support efficient and reliable vehicular communication. In this paper, joint mode selection and re-source allocation problem in D2D-enabled vehicular network is addressed, which aims to maximize the throughput of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) pairs while ensuring reliability of both cellular links and V2V links. Three modes i.e., cellular mode, dedicated mode, and reuse mode are considered for V2V communication and we propose a distance-based mode selection scheme. Then we formulate the resource allocation in reuse mode as a game theoretical problem and it is proved to be an exact potential game (EPG), which guarantees the existence of the strategy Nash equilibrium (NE). Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is able to enhance the spectral efficiency and maximize throughput of the considered system.
