An on-line Disturbance Location Algorithm for Power Networks Based on Electromechanical Waves Theory

It is significant to accurately locate the location of the disturbance source for the safety and stability of the power system. It can be used to provide the necessary data source for predictive control. In this paper, by comparing the short-period volatility of generator frequency at steady state and monotonicity when the electromechanical wave arrived, an identification method of the arrival time of disturbance is put forward and based on a sliding time window which could build the inspection time vector on-line. According to the weighted undirected graph of structural frame model of power system, the Floyd method for the shortest path search is applied to build the reference time matrix which shows the propagation time of electromechanical wave induced by different disturbance locations. Finally, the disturbance is located by minimum distance classifier. The proposed approach is verified by case study,.
