Research on Offline and Online Evaluation of Disaster Resilience for Distribution Systems

In recent years, the significant impact of low-probability and high-impact natural disasters on distribution systems has gradually attracted attention. Based on the actual demand of distribution systems to cope with extreme natural disasters, this paper proposes a distribution system resilience evaluation framework which can be uniformly applied to system planning and operation. Firstly, the intermediate indices and ultimate indices are extracted to evaluate the distribution system resilience. Then, the resilience evaluation of distribution system against extreme events is divided into offline and online modes according to the application scenarios. Finally, based on the Monte Carlo simulation method, the evaluation process of distribution system resilience is proposed, and the modified IEEE 33-bus distribution system is used for case study to verify the validity and rationality of the proposed method. The results indicate that the number of contact feeders has a significant effect on distribution system resilience against typhoons, while the effect of repair teams is relatively weak, which suggests the utility properly reinforce the infrastructure to mitigate the impact of disasters.
