Day-ahead Joint Bidding Strategy and Settlement Method of Charging Stations

The number of charging stations for electric vehicles is gradually increasing. In order to meet the charging demands of electric vehicle owners, some charging stations have become large users with power demand and participated in the market bidding. Since the bidding capacity is large enough to influence the market price, the market would be inefficient if not coordinated. To coordinate bidding for multiple charging stations, in this paper, a systematic framework of day-ahead joint bidding for charging stations considering a non-profit third-party operator is presented, day-ahead bidding models for charging stations and third-party operator are established respectively, and a bidding cost settlement method based on the VCG mechanism is designed. The numerical simulation results show that the proposed day-ahead joint bidding method can reduce the bidding cost of all participants effectively. Meanwhile, the bidding cost settlement method based on the VCG mechanism can motivate charging stations to participate in joint bidding and avoid false bidding strategies of charging stations.
