Optimal Design of Energy Efficient Survivable Routing & Spectrum Allocation in EON

In this paper, we propose a novel mathematical approach for solving joint optimization problem of survivability coupled with minimization of power consumption and spectrum utilization in Elastic Optical Network (EON) under static environment. We have formulated Integer Linear Programming (ILP) model for two different survivability approaches: Shared Path and Multipath. Performance evaluation of these two simulated approaches substantiate the claim on our proposed model resulting in significant amount of savings in energy consumption as well as in spectrum utilization as compared with that obtained from deployment of fragmented approaches.
