Analysis of Influence of Wind Speed Correlation in Transmission Congestion Based on LHS-Cholesky Decomposition

For the problem of transmission and consumption of large-scale wind power in some regions of China, the influence and mechanism of wind speed correlation on transmission congestion are analyzed. Firstly, the wind speed prediction error obeys the normal distribution to model the uncertainty of wind power. Secondly, the wind speed is sampled based on Latin Hypercube Sampling method, and the wind speed correlation samples are generated by Cholesky decomposition method to complete the construction of correlation wind power scene. Finally, the grid of a high wind power installation area in Yunnan Province is selected as an example, the influence of wind speed correlation on the distribution of cross-section power flow scenarios and the change of transmission congestion probability are analyzed. The results show that the wind speed correlation correlates the output of each wind farm, which makes it more likely that the output of the wind farm increases or decreases at the same time. The superposition of wind power fluctuation also increases the number of high-power scenarios in the section, which increases the probability of transmission congestion. Additionally, with the enhancement of wind speed correlation, it will also increase the probability of transmission congestion.
