An Integrated On-board Battery Charger for EVs With Voltage Matching Ability Based on a Six-Phase HEFS Machine

In this paper, to overcome the obstacles in the existing integrated on-board chargers, an on-board two-stage integrated charger is proposed based on a six-phase hybrid excitation flux-switching motor (6p-HEFSM). The traditional topologies and lately proposed integrated chargers are reviewed firstly and three crucial obstacles are concluded. Then, the 6p-HEFSM-based integrated charger is presented, and topologies in both single-phase and three-phase charging modes are analyzed. In the proposed integrated charger, the existing obstacles are all overcome by taking advantages of the six-phase driving system. Thereafter, the control method and simulation waveforms are presented, and the effectiveness of the proposed system is verified by simulation. Therefore, the availability of the proposed two-stage integrated on-board charger with voltage matching ability is confirmed, and only the 6-p HEFSM driving system are used without any additional power devices.
