Design of an Ultra Wideband Polarization Insensitive and Wide Angle Metasurface Absorber based on Resistive-Ink

A single layer ultra wideband polarization insensitive and wide angle Metasurface based Radar Absorber structure has been designed by printing periodic pattern through resistive ink on a metal backed substrate. Unit cell dimensions has been optimized to achieve 99% absorption for 8.71-17.387 GHz. Numerical simulation result showed a 20-dB absorption bandwidth from 8.71 to 17.387 GHz and 10-dB absorption bandwidth from 7.04 to 20.009 GHz under normal incidence. The proposed structure is insensitive to polarization angle and gives 10-dB absorption bandwidth upto 50º of angle of incidence. Therefore it can find applications in RCS reduction.
