Event-triggered Communication-based Control Scheme for Economic Dispatch in islanded DC Microgrids

To further reduce information exchange requirements and simplify control loops, an event-triggered communication-based control scheme (ECCS) is proposed for economic dispatch (ED) in islanded DC microgrids in this paper. The proposed ECCS for ED in islanded DC microgrids consists of 1) the proposed improved droop control (IDC) and 2) event-triggered communication-based strategy (ECS). Based on the methods of Lagrange function and dual ascent, the IDC is proposed to integrate both ED and secondary control for voltage regulation with conventional droop control. In addition, the ECS is proposed to assist the IDC achieving the feature of plug-n-play. The effectiveness of the proposed ECCS containing the above two parts is verified by simulations of the studied islanded DC microgrid under various loading conditions.
