Wideband Microwave System for Brain Diagnosis

Microwave based diagnostic technique has great potential to develop a compact and mobile device which can realize the on-the-spot accurate detection of brain lesions. The research of biomedical microwave near field detection systems is of great significance. In this paper, we describe a kind of wideband microwave system for Brain diagnosis, which works at a bandwidth of 0.8~2GHz with a compact antenna array of 12 antenna units. Its measured reflection coefficients are less than -10dB, and the transmission coefficients are sensitive to the changes of dielectric constants. The feasibility of the system for classification of different medium composition is verified by experiments with support vector machine (SVM) method.
