A new frequency estimation method for real signal in noise

In order to suppress the spectrum leakage influence of negative frequency component of real signal on frequency estimation, a novel method is proposed. First, the fast Fourier Transform algorithm is adopted to improve the real time performance. In the second stage, the real signal is converted to a complex signal by means of coarse frequency estimation, coarse amplitude estimation and constructing the reference signal, and the spectrum leakage influence can be gradually reduced by an iterative interpolation procedure. The results of simulation testing indicate that the proposed method suppress the spectrum leakage influence and improves the estimation performance. Moreover, the efficacy of the proposed method is validated by the experimental testing on LFMCW radars.
