A Feedforward Control Strategy aiming at Withdrawal Disturbance of Load Side Resources

In recent years, load side resources have been gradually applied to the frequency control of power systems. However, the characteristics of the load side resources are quite different from the generation side resources, especially the load side resources must secede the frequency control to ensure sufficient user tolerance. This characteristic causes withdrawal disturbance to the power systems, which does harm to the recovery of system frequency. In this paper, a feedforward control strategy is designed to reduce the negative impact of withdrawal disturbance of load side resources on the power systems, so as to improve the performance of the frequency recovery process. By informing the generator in advance about the withdrawal disturbance of load side resources, this method ensures that there are enough generation side resources to compensate when the load resources are withdrawn. The feedforward control strategy is simulated on the standard 10- machine 39-node system, and the experimental results show that the feedforward control can effectively reduce the impact of withdrawal disturbance by load side resources.
