An Improved Droop Control Method for Distributed Diesel Generators without Intercommunication under the Disaster Condition

Under disaster condition, emergency diesel generators play an important role in ensuring power supply and disaster relief. The state of the AC bus under the island is determined by the output characteristics of the distributed diesel generators (DGs). The improved drooping method proposed in the paper introduces PI-based non-communication secondary control based on the traditional droop control to achieve the stability of the frequency and voltage of the AC bus under the disaster condition. On the basis of coordinating diesel DGs equal-distribution of active power, it is also possible to maintain the AC bus in the rated state well in the system state transition, and avoid the fluctuation of the bus voltage frequency.
