Design of Power Distribution Network for an Isolated Hybrid Energy System Located in a Hilly Area

The shortest distance between the load and generating centers, present in a hilly area containing seven unelectrified villages, located in the Dhauladevi block of Almora district, Uttarakhand is considered for calculating the power loss of the distribution system. Here the Newton Raphson method is used for load flow analysis. It helps to find the type of aluminum conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR) to be selected for the present network. The overall system cost of energy is calculated by including the hybrid energy system cost along with distribution network cost and CO
₂
emission costsaving. Finally, the sensitivity analysis on the hybrid energy system (HES) is performed by varying the change in solar radiation, fluctuation in demand, a variation of diesel prices and reliability index ratio.
