Voltage Control of Rural Grid with High Proportion of Residential PV plants

Due to large-scale residential photovoltaic (PV) plants connecting to the grid, the problem of voltage offset at the end of rural power grid is very serious. A novel priority control strategy is proposed in this paper in order to solve this problem. The strategy considers the voltage sensitivity and voltage offset of each node, as well as the state of charge (SOC) and capacity of each energy storage device to determine the action priority and action threshold voltage of each energy storage device. According to the action threshold voltage and voltage data collected locally, each energy storage device discharges or charges to solve the voltage offset problem. Finally, a simulation model is built in MATLAB and the simulation results fully prove the effectiveness of this method.
