Influence of Stator Design on the Thrust Force Performance of Double Sided Linear Permanent Magnet Flux Switching Machine

= 12⁄14 is selected due to high flux linkage, and high thrust force. Initial design of 12/14 DSLPMFSM suffers with significant detent force and degrade machine performance by introducing periodic thrust force ripples. Asynchronous distribution of stator tooth (ADST) technique is utilized and detent force problem is effectively rectified. Furthermore, stator of 12/14 DSLPMFSM is optimized by deterministic optimization approach by defining variables for tooth width, shape, and height. Finally, two types of grooves (triangular and rectangular) are introduced, and optimized to decrease stator volume and thrust force ripples. Introduction of ADST technique and two fold optimization increased average thrust force up to 103.25% as compared to initial design, while thrust force ripple ratio is reduced from 52% to 25%.
