Gain enhancement for Polarization Diversity antenna at 2.45 GHz

This article presents gain enhancement for polarization diversity antenna at 2.45 GHz by using a planar folded transmitarray antenna (FTAA). The design of antenna consists of three parts, small dimensions rhombus shape antenna for polarization diversity [1] (feeding element), transmitarray (TA), and PEC plate (reflector). Rhombus shape antenna produces RHCP and LHCP by using two PIN diodes. The gain is enhanced by integration the FTAA and the rhombus shape antenna in a folded techniques using PEC plate. The folded technique achieves a compact shape for the antenna. The FTAA radiation characteristics are investigated. Gain enhanced is around 13 dBi compared with 2 dBi from rhombus shape antenna. Axial ratio is about 1.5 dB.
