An X-band Wide Beamwidth CP Antenna Design with Extended Structure of Dielectric Substrate

A novel X-band wide beamwidth circularly polarized (CP) antenna is presented in this paper. To obtain wide beamwidth and wide axial ratio (AR) beamwidth characteristics, the extended structure of dielectric substrate is adopted. The antenna features a wide 3-dB beamwidth of about 112 degrees and a wide 3-dB AR beamwidth of nearly 200 degrees while retaining the small size of only 8.2 cm

. The gain of the antenna at 9.7 GHz is 5.2 dB. This kind of antenna structure can be used in many other frequency bands and various occasions.
