Self-Powered Wireless IoT Sensor Based on Triboelectric Textile

We present a self-powered wireless textile sensor based on triboelectric instantaneous discharging and electrostatic coupling to realize short-range signal transmission. The proposed wireless textile sensing system contains a triboelectric textile, a mechanical switch, and a coil. An instantaneous discharging is created by the switch for frequency boost up, hence the sensing signal can be directly transmitted to a receiver with distance up to 1m by simply connecting the triboelectric output to a coil. Here the frequency of transmitted signal is affected by the applied force on the triboelectric textile, which can act as a stable sensing parameter. Unlike the previously reported work using the signal amplitude as the sensing parameter, here we use the frequency shift as the sensory information that is highly resistant to the environmental interferences.
