High-effciency Planar Huygens’ Metasurface for Wave Manipulation

We present a simple planar Huygens' metasuface made of bi-layer metallic resonators. It is numerically demonstrated that such unit cells, operated with Huygens principle, can achieve nearly uniform transmission with full 2π phase control. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed unit cells, a gradient phase metasurface is proposed. Full-wave numerical simulation clearly verifies the anomalous refraction in such a metasurface, in good accordance with theoretical expectation. The proposed unit cells could be further utilized for various applications for achieving high-efficient beam manipulations in the transmissive mode.
