Analysis and Design of Mutual Inductance Stability Using Hexagonal Coil

A novel type of planar spiral hexagonal coil with uniform axial magnetic field distribution for wireless power transfer is presented in this paper. Compared to the conventional planar spiral hexagonal coil, the improved coil remains the mutual inductance between the two coils stable when there is a certain horizontal offset between the transmitting coil and the receiving coil. The mutual inductance calculation method of parallel non-coaxial hexagonal coils is introduced as well. Compared with the result calculated by MAXWELL simulation software, the correctness and efficiency of this method are verified. The proposed method overcomes the influence of horizontal offset on transmission efficiency and transmission power and is thus a great promising method to design efficient wireless power transmission system.
