Analysis of Overload Risk Improvement of Distribution Network with Flexible Distribution Switch

This paper proposes an analytical method to quantitatively calculate the overload risk of distribution network with flexible distribution switch (FDS), which is of great significance to determine the capacity of each port of FDS. The proposed method is based on the time-series probability model of feeder load, and a mathematical method is utilized to simply the calculation of overload risk of distribution network considering the connection of FDS bringing difficulties to the calculation. A simplified distribution network with three-port FDS is taken as an example to verify the validity of the proposed method, and the results show that the marginal benefit of FDS in reducing overload risk of distribution network decreases with the increase of FDS load capacity, and overload risk indexes show different characteristics with the variation of peak time differences between feeder load.
