A biodegradable microneedles – trapezoidal micropatterned patch in the LED therapy

LED therapy has been widely used in skin troubles care and cosmetic procedures due to the profound benefits as non-invasive, drug-free and being administered only act on lesion region but not injure other tissues. However, due to the limited penetration depth in skin tissues, safe and effective LED therapy is challenging when the expected photon passes through the epidermis to reach the target lesion region. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a biodegradable light-guide plate combining microneedles and trapezoidal micropatterned patch (MTMP) as the light assist device to improve light therapy transmission efficiency. It is also expected that this flexible light-assisted device can be used in a slim and portable light therapy system.
