Decentralized Cluster Voltage optimization Control of an Active Distribution Networks

With an increasing proportion of renewable energy in the active distribution networks (ADNs), the access to large number of distributed generators (DGs) brings new challenges to control of ADN. With regard to the traditional central control mode, it has high dimensions and complexity, and has high requirements for communication. Based on the clustering of DGs, this paper proposes a decentralized voltage optimization control method based on DG clusters. The proposed control methods are accomplished as follows: 1) the key central point of each cluster is determined according to its voltage characteristics. 2) Then take the reactive power absorption and economic operation as the goals, the decentralized optimization is used to realize the voltage control in local areas, so as to realize the optimal operation of the whole system and avoid the long-distance transportation of reactive power. 3) Finally, an ADN was established in Matlab/Simulink for simulation, which proved that the proposed voltage optimization control has a great optimization effect on the voltages of DGs.
