A Terahertz Tunable Dual-Band Modulator Based on Graphene Metamaterials

In this paper, a graphene metamaterial modulator structure is proposed, which utilizes the surface plasmon resonance of graphene metamaterials to achieve active dual-band manipulation in terahertz (THz) frequency range. The proposed metamaterial structure is made of graphene and features an H-type structure surrounded by a closed rectangular ring. By applying different bias voltages on the graphene layer, the dynamic dual-band modulation can be achieved, with the maximum modulation depth of 95%. When varying the incident angles from 0° to 60°, the modulation remains effective. Due to its performance, the design concept of this proposed modulator can be promising for future THz communications.
