Dual Polarized Rectenna and Array at X-band with High-Efficiency

This paper proposes a high efficiency dual polarized rectenna and array at X band. An aperture-coupled dual polarization patch antenna is utilized as the receiving antenna. This patch antenna includes harmonic suppression functionality, which is essential for high microwave-direct current (mw-dc) conversion efficiency. The rectifying circuit adopts the Class-F structure with high rectification efficiency. A 2×2 rectenna array is designed and measured. When the received power density is 8.5 mW/cm

, the maximum conversion efficiency of the rectenna unit and array is 76.4% and 74.7%, respectively. The efficiency for various polarization tilt angles is always higher than 70%.
