Modelling the Intentions to Adopt UPIs: A PLS-SEM Approach

The current study aims to identify the factors that affect consumers' adoption of online payment services-UPI (unified payment interface) as an alternative to existing payment modes. A survey of 415 smartphone users was conducted to understand their UPI adoption behavior. Six constructs emerged to be significant in predicting behavioral intentions towards UPI adoption. By now the survey was done on a select age group i.e Youth and the ones who are using smartphones and further it can be extended to other ages groups. The measurement of the is done by using a multivariate method by Partial Least Square method involving empirical data. Findings of the study will be helpful for mobile app developers and mobile service providers for better strategy formulation, especially in the context of an emerging market. The impact of `add-on-benefits' was found to be the most significant among other factors which also included perceived value, perceived risk, ease-of-use, and social influence.
