Effect of Equipment Layout on Electromagnetic Field Distribution in Engine Room

Helicopter skin can shield electromagnetic wave to a certain extent. But there are unavoidable holes, slots and cables out of the cabin. According to shielding theory, this will greatly affect the shielding effectiveness of the body. Because there is much small equipment in the cabin, the clutter signal produced by the single machine reflects and oscillates between the equipment and the cabin deck, which will aggravate the electro-magnetic leakage. In addition, in the actual measurement process of shielding effectiveness, the test instrument will also affect the electromagnetic environment near it, making the measurement accuracy decline. Therefore, in order to eliminate the influence of equipment, it is necessary to study its influence law. Based on the study of shielding effectiveness of the airframe itself, the influence of equipment layout on electromagnetic field distribution and shielding effectiveness of the airframe is investigated. Then based on the previous simulation of shielding effectiveness of helicopter skin structure, this paper investigates the influence of equipment layout on shielding effectiveness. By using the simulation software FEKO, the influence of equipment layout on electromagnetic energy distribution characteristics of cabin coupling is studied, and the influence rules of equipment layout and cable layout on electromagnetic coupling energy are summarized.
