Combined Economic and Emission Load Dispatch Solution Using BSA-PSO Hybrid Algorithm

This paper presents an application of BSA-PSO hybrid algorithm on combined economic and emission load dispatch (CEELD) problem. Backtracking Search Algorithm & Particle Swarm Optimization are considered to make a new hybrid optimization, BSA-PSO. Recently various soft computing techniques have been applied to this problem. Here different types of price penalty factors have been considered to solve this problem. Price Penalty factors are Min-Max, Max-min, Max-Max, and Min-Min. Price Penalty factor of CEELD is the ratio of fuel cost to fuel emission value. Valve point effect has also been applied to CEELD problem. Application of different Price Penalty factors on CEELD problem has been compared and analyzed. Optimal fuel cost of the considered problem, considering valve point effect and different Price Penalty factors, using the BSA-PSO hybrid algorithm, has been shown. Optimal fuel cost derived from the applied algorithm has been compared with BSA and PSO techniques.
