Simulation of the absorber layer thickness effect on the performance of CuInSe2 solar cells

This paper presents an analysis of the performance of a CuInSe
₂
-based thin film solar cell under the variation of the thickness of the absorber layer considering two irradiance models. The analysis is done by simulations in Matlab using a mathematical model based on physical concepts of the solar cell behavior. Physical variables of the layers -ZnO/CdS/CuInSe
₂
- are introduced in the model. The open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF) and efficiency (η) are obtained. The objective of this work is to help in the selection of the optimum thickness of the absorber layer in order to obtain the maximum efficiency.
