Research on Multi-function Simulator for Power Converting System Test

The access of high-penetration energy storage systems affects the reliability of the entire distributed generation system. Therefore, the test of Power Converting System (PCS) became more and more important, but there is no multi-function simulation device for the PCS test. By combining the functions of the grid simulator and power electronic load, a multi-function simulator’s topology is proposed, which can realize the voltage disturbance under grid-on condition and simulate the load characteristics under gird-off condition, meanwhile the requirements of the grid and load characteristics is analyzed. Based on the topology of multi-function simulation device, a control strategy based on voltage current dual-loop and load current feedforward is promoted, the corresponding simulation is verified. The simulation results show that the proposed multi-function simulator can flexibly simulate the faults of voltage drop and harmonics; it can also simulate the resistive, capacitive and inductive load characteristics.
