Ray-Tracing Based Millimeter-Wave Large-Scale Channel Characteristics in Corridor Environment

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications play a crucial role to meet the anticipated demands of mobile traffic in the fifth generation (5G) and beyond wireless communication systems. Getting full knowledge of the propagation characteristics across different mmWave bands and scenarios is the basis of system design and deployment. In this paper, we investigate the large-scale channel characterizations in a typical corridor environment at 25.5 GHz and 39.5 GHz based on 3D ray-tracing simulations. Simulation results show that mmWave channel characteristics are sensitive to transceiver siting in terms of path loss, delay spread, and angular spread. Moreover, waveguide-like effect is obvious in corridor environment which results in not dramatically worse coverage probability at the two mmWave bands.
