An Equivalent Magnetic Current Array Model for Analysis of UWB Omnidirectional Antenna

In this paper, a basic dipole antenna unit is designed to achieve stable UWB omnidirectional radiation through CST simulation.Antennas with different structures are obtained based on changing the number N of the antenna unit. The impedance bandwidth of several antennas presented in this paper all reach 70:1. Meantime, an equivalent magnetic current array theory model is also proposed to analyze the radiation mechanism of designed antennas. The proposed theory model is useful to study the condition when the out-of-roundness in H-plane pattern of the designed antenna is less than 3 dB. Calculation results of the presented magnetic current theory model are in good agreement with the simulation results, which show great value in guiding design of similar combined UWB omnidirectional antennas.
