Simulation of Burst Phenomenon in Exploding Wire

Explosive Magnetic Generators (EMGs) are the pulsed power sources which use explosives as their prime power sources. In the power conditioning system of a Magnetic Flux Compression Generator (MFCG), the key role is played by Exploding Wire. This paper presents the modelling and simulation of the exploding wire behaviour, incorporating the impact of skin effect in the wire, using two different approaches to resistivity change during the process till the burst phenomenon. Understanding this behaviour of exploding wire helps in designing a proper conditioning system for MFCGs.
