Airborne Remote Sensing of Currents on the Yukon River

This paper reports on the remote measurement of river currents and derived bathymetry from airborne time-series imagery. The data were collected with the NOAA Digital Sensor System (DSS), which collected imagery along a 200 km reach of the Yukon River in June 2016. A maximum cross correlation algorithm produced surface current vectors every 45 meters across and along the river. These surface currents combined with an inverse hydrographic model produced derived river bathymetry.
