Non-sinusoidal Supply Control Strategy Based on Rotor and Air-gap Flux Orientation for Multiphase Induction Machine

Novel non-sinusoidal power supply control strategy for multiphase induction machine (IM) is presented in this paper. Different with the traditional control strategies, the proposed method is based on both the rotor flux and air-gap flux orientation, for fundamental plane it is rotor flux orientated and however it is air-gap flux orientated for the harmonic planes. The constraints for the non-sinusoidal power supply is illustrated firstly and the defects of the tradition harmonic current injecting strategy are explained. The proposed control strategy is deduced in detail according to the relationship of the air-gap and rotor flux phasor. The mathematical model of a seven-phase IM containing both the fundamental and harmonic planes is established under the MATLAB/Simulink environment. The non-sinusoidal power supply performances for both the two kinds of traditional strategies and the proposed strategy are carried out from no-load condition to rated load condition. Kinds of promoting performance for the proposed control strategy comparing with the traditional ones are verified through the simulation results.
